PM Interview experience at FreeCharge

Note that this is an Interview experience shared by a PM School candidate. We have kept the identity of the interviewer anonymous.

My PM interview consisted of 4 rounds including HR. First-round was with the Head of Engineering, the second round was with the Senior Product Manager. In the third
round, I was given a take-home assignment. The last round was with HR which was related to my past work experience and negotiation.

Round 1: Head of Engineering

This was a two-hour interview starting from Tell me about yourself, Why you want to become a product manager, my past experiences, product knowledge. Later I was given a scenario and asked to create Product Requirement Document and epic feature mapping for the same along with Success metrics. Few questions on tech stacks, testing, and JIRA.

Tip - 'This round was more focused on your basic programming skills and project management. Keep the number of parallax effects to a minimum'

Round 2: Senior Product Manager

Name your favourite app and what are its pros and cons? Mine was WhatsApp so I easily briefed the pros and for cons. Later, I was asked to list two features to improve the same app and explain the reasons. I was later drilled on my analytical skills but giving a few situations.

Tip - 'This round was more focused on analytical skills and strategic knowledge'

Round 3: Take-Home assignment (to be submitted within 3 days)

Provide a detailed PRD on a problem statement: Users are required to bring several cards with them like - debit cards, credit cards, and e-money cards, which is inconvenient and even costly to the issuing company to replace any lost cards. Design a solution to ease access to accounts for payments without carrying physical cards or minimise the number of cards for user access and verification.

Tip- 'Along with the PRD format, please add some wireframes along with highlighting the success metrics.'
